Background

Growing up with rapid technological development and the information explosion, I developed research interests in mining useful information from massive data and utilizing it for the general social good. I am a geographical information scientist, using spatial big data to understand human mobility and human-environment interactions. My research bridges data science and social science by developing quantitative methods to solve practical social problems. By creating a better understanding of the past, I hope to develop more effective and efficient strategies for urban sustainable development.

Research

My research interests focus on using spatial big data to understand how people interact with their surrounding environments. I employ spatial big data, cyberinfrastructure-based applications, and geo-visualizations to create a better understanding of human-environment interaction. My previous projects have studied hurricane-caused evacuation models, post-disaster business recovery, taxi/ride-sharing trips in cities, and accessibility to healthcare facilities. I am open to exploring a variety of research topics beyond those mentioned above, as I believe interdisciplinary collaboration can lead to innovative solutions and insights.
